Tense হলো Verb-এর এমন একটি রূপ যা বলে দেয় কোনো কাজ কখন হয়েছে, হচ্ছে বা হবে। সহজ কথায় — Tense সময়কে প্রকাশ করে। বাংলায় আমরা বলি "কাল"।

The form of a verb that shows the time of an action or state is called Tense. Tense is primarily of three types — Present, Past, and Future. Each type is further divided into four sub-types: Simple, Continuous, Perfect, and Perfect Continuous.

১. Simple Present Tense (সাধারণ বর্তমান কাল)

২. Present Continuous Tense (চলমান বর্তমান কাল)

Subject + am/is/are + V1 + -ing

📌 মনে রাখুন: I → am | He/She/It → is | You/We/They → are। এই সহায়ক ক্রিয়া (Helping Verb) ভুল হলেই MCQ-তে উত্তর ভুল হবে।
৩. Present Perfect Tense (পুর্ণ বর্তমান কাল)

Past Perfect-এর বিশেষ নিয়ম (পরীক্ষায় বারবার আসে)
দুটি অতীত ঘটনার মধ্যে যেটি আগে ঘটেছে সেটি Past Perfect-এ, যেটি পরে ঘটেছে সেটি Simple Past-এ। 'Before' ও 'After' ক্লজে এই নিয়ম প্রযোজ্য।

'since' → Present Perfect বা Past Perfect-এ ব্যবহার হয়, কখনো Simple Past-এ নয়। 'ago' → সর্বদা Simple Past। 'by' + future time → Future Perfect। 'while/as' → Past Continuous (দুটি একসাথে চলা ক্রিয়া)।

WB Gram Panchayat সহায়ক/ক্লার্ক পদের ৮৫ নম্বরের লিখিত পরীক্ষায় ইংরেজি থেকে ১৫-২০ নম্বর আসে। এর মধ্যে Tense থেকে সাধারণত ৪-৬টি প্রশ্ন আসে। Fill in the blanks, Error spotting ও Sentence correction — এই তিনটি পদ্ধতিতে Tense পরীক্ষিত হয়।
Tense মোট ১২ প্রকার — Present (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous), Past (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous), Future (Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous)। পঞ্চায়েত পরীক্ষায় Simple Present, Simple Past, Present Perfect ও Past Perfect — এই চারটি থেকে সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রশ্ন আসে।
Simple Past — নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে (yesterday, ago, last year) শেষ হওয়া কাজ। Present Perfect — অতীতে ঘটেছে কিন্তু এখনও প্রাসঙ্গিক (just, already, ever, never, recently)। পরীক্ষায় 'yesterday' বা 'ago' দেখলে Simple Past, 'just/already/never' দেখলে Present Perfect নির্বাচন করুন।
WB Gram Panchayat নিয়োগের মোট ৮৫ নম্বরের লিখিত পরীক্ষায় মূলত বাংলা, ইংরেজি, গণিত, সাধারণ জ্ঞান ও পঞ্চায়েতি রাজ বিষয়ে প্রশ্ন আসে। ইংরেজি বিভাগ থেকে সাধারণত ১৫-২০ নম্বর আসে। Grammar (Tense, Preposition, Articles), Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms) ও Comprehension থেকে প্রশ্ন থাকে।
'for' → সময়কাল বোঝায় (for 2 hours, for 3 years, for a long time)। 'since' → শুরুর নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝায় (since morning, since 2020, since January)। পরীক্ষায় এই ভুল সবচেয়ে বেশি হয়। নিয়ম: 'for' দিয়ে সময়ের পরিমাণ মাপা যায় (for 3 hours = ৩ ঘণ্টার জন্য), কিন্তু 'since' দিয়ে নয়।
